When Does the Bitcoin Daily Candle Close? 00:00 UTC Explained for US Traders
Crypto trades around the clock, but charts still need a "daily close". On OKX, Binance, Coinbase's daily candles in most charting tools, and TradingView's default crypto charts, the daily candle closes at 00:00 UTC.
What that means in US time
- During US daylight saving time (March to November): 00:00 UTC = 8:00 PM ET, 5:00 PM PT.
- During standard time (November to March): 00:00 UTC = 7:00 PM ET, 4:00 PM PT.
The UTC time never changes; only its US label shifts when the clocks do.
Why we publish at 12:00 UTC
Our forecast is locked at 12:00 UTC — 8:00 AM ET in summer, 7:00 AM ET in winter — before the US stock market opens and with half a day left until the daily close. It's scored against the OKX daily close at 00:00 UTC, the same candle every trader sees.
Weekly closes
Weekly candles on most crypto charts close on Monday at 00:00 UTC (Sunday evening in the US). Our 7-day range targets the daily close seven days after the issue date.
